When I’m not using spec, I just click on the “Off” button in the MME driver section of DirectWire (“OFF”

changes to “OUT”) and I get normal stereo sound out of the U46.

Using a “Virtual” Audio Device

If your Audio Device doesn’t allow routing of digital audio, you can still achieve the same result with a Virtual

Audio Device combined with ASIO4ALL. There are several of these Virtual Audio Device Software packages but

one that is inexpensive and known to work for this purpose is “Virtual Audio Cable”,

Install Virtual Audio Cable (be sure to use the 64bit installer if you are running a 64 bit version of Windows)

and use its control panel (the vcctlpan.exe file in its program folder) to set up one virtual cable:

Set your software source (foobar2000, Pandora, etc.) to use Virtual Audio Cable as its output device.
